Lasting Power of Attorney on the Fylde Coast

Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document that gives people you nominate, your attorneys, the authority to make decisions as if they were you, should you lose mental capacity. Our Fylde Coast solicitors have many years’ experience advising individuals and families on making an LPA.

There are two types: a Property & Affairs LPA, covering decisions about your property, finances, banks, investments and pensions; and a Health & Welfare LPA, covering decisions about your health and care. We help you navigate complex medical and financial needs so your wishes are followed.

Home visits available. For elderly or infirm clients across the Fylde Coast and Lancashire who are unable to attend our Fleetwood or Cleveleys offices, we are happy to arrange a home visit at a time that suits you.

FAQs

Your questions answered

An LPA is a legal document that lets you appoint people you trust, your attorneys, to make decisions on your behalf if you lose the mental capacity to make them yourself.
Two: a Property & Affairs LPA covers property, finances, banking, investments and pensions; a Health & Welfare LPA covers decisions about your health and care. Many people put both in place.
A Property & Affairs LPA can be used once registered and with your permission, while a Health & Welfare LPA can only be used if you lose capacity. We will explain exactly how each works.
Yes. An LPA must be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian before it can be used. We handle the registration for you as part of the process.
Yes. For clients across the Fylde Coast and Lancashire who cannot attend our Fleetwood or Cleveleys offices, we are happy to arrange a home visit.
